TAX INCREASES EFFECTIVE APRIL 1, 2009

As most of you already know, in addition to the state sales tax increasing to 9.25%, the federal tax on all tobacco products went up significantly on April 1. As we told you before, in order to minimize the impact on our loyal customers, Smoke N' Sticks will only increase our prices by the amount of the increase we receive from our suppliers and manufacturers (plus the increase in the state tobacco tax on those cigars) and we will only pass on this increase after we have had to pay the higher prices. Not only will we not be increasing our profit margins (even though several of the manufacturers have provided us with suggested retail prices reflecting an increased profit margin), by only increasing our prices by the amount of increase we receive from the manufacturer, the result will be a reduction of our profit margins. Our prices are being adjusted as we receive new merchandise and, during this transition period, because we will only raise the prices on the new merchandise we receive, you will notice that the price on some smaller cigars will be higher than on the larger sizes of the same brand.

WE'RE STILL GOING STRONG AT MOJITO'S
ON THURSDAY NIGHTS

Something different at Mojito's that started last week, besides receiving a 30% discount on your meal (only) when you buy a cigar you also receive a shot of scotch that pairs well with the cigars we bring. Last week it was a paring of cigars with Macallan 12 year old Scotch, this upcoming Thursday we are paring our cigars with Jonnie Walker black…although if you purchase an exquisite cigar we will be obligated and pleased to pair it up with Johnnie Walker "BLUE" Over the past several months, we've built up a group of regulars who join us every Thursday night, as well as a number of our own store customers who've made the short drive to enjoy a good meal, great drinks, Caribbean music, and some really terrific cigars. We've even had a few women customers from the restaurant who've come outside and enjoyed a cigar with us.
